Royal Academy of Music
I have had the pleasure and privilege of teaching at my alma mater, the Royal Academy of Music, for many years and have been lucky to have been able to help talented players into the profession where many now occupy important positions in orchestras around the world.
I had the good fortune to have been taught the violin by Ernest Element, a student of Carl Flesch and the viola by Max Gilbert, who was taught by the legendary Lionel Tertis. Quartet coaching, and guidance in the early stages of my solo career came from Sydney Griller. The influence of these great teachers has informed my playing and teaching in equal measure throughout my life and I try to pass on what I learnt from them, and also from the great players I have worked with over the years, to my students.
